JOHNSON CITY — Bernice Seyb, 98, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson City.
She was born Jan. 13, 1920, in South Haven to Charles Russell and Mabel R. (Gile) Lusk.
She grew up in South Haven until age 11, when her family moved to Topeka. She received her teacher’s certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
She moved to Johnson City in the fall of 1941. She married Thomas F. Seyb on May 15, 1942. She was a librarian at Stanton County Library for many years. For 30 years, Bernice lived at Georgetown Village in Wichita.
She is survived by three sons, Steve Seyb and wife Cynthia of Albuquerque, N.M., Spencer Seyb and wife Jeanne of Conroe, Texas, and Stacy Seyb and wife Jane Williamson of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Susan Parks and husband Gary of Rose Hill; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas, in 1991; and son, Samuel.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Jan. 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson City. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Jan. 11 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson City.
