Custom obituary

 

Kenneth M. Heinrichs, age 79, of Grand Junction, Colorado, took the hand of his Savior and entered heaven, October 1, 2018, at HopeWest Care Center.

Ken was born on November 26, 1938, in Corn, Oklahoma, to Samuel J. and Emma (Willems) Heinrichs. He was a graduate of Corn Bible Academy, Corn, Oklahoma. Ken earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Friends University, Wichita, Kansas.

Ken had a career in law enforcement that spanned over 30 years, beginning in 1961 as a police officer for the Garden City Police Department, Kansas. In 1971 he became Deputy Sheriff for the Finney County Sheriff's Department, Garden City, Kansas. Following his years in public law enforcement, he started a private security company in 1979.

On May 29, 1960, he married Juanita DeCamp in Garden City. They moved to Colorado in 1997 from Wichita, Kansas.

Ken was an avid woodworker and enjoyed construction and design. His hobby most recently was designing and crafting bird houses. He was a member of the Clifton Christian Church, Clifton, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S. J. and Emma Heinrichs; brother, Wallace Heinrichs; and son-in-law, David Shuler.

Ken is survived by his wife, Juanita; and daughter, LaKen Duckworth (Vaughn) of Naturita, Colorado.

There will be a memorial service held on October 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Clifton Christian Church, 3241 F 1/4 Road, Clifton, Colorado.
