LAKIN — Lola Brooks, 85, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at the Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Springfield, Mo.  

She was born Sept. 7, 1932, in Prowers County, Colo., to Otto Ervin and Ida Rebecca Armour Bezona. She graduated from Granada (Colo.) High School.  

On Sept. 21, 1953, she married Harold B. Brooks in Raton, N.M. They moved to Lakin in 1971. He died March 10, 1980. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Cohen; a great-grandson, Nathan Unruh; five brothers, Scott Bezona, Paul Bezona, Richard Bezona, Alfred Bezona and Dean Bezona; a sister, Betty Melton; sisters-in-law, Lois Bezona, Mary Bezona and Joyce Bezona; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Wieman.

Mrs. Brooks had moved to Nixa, Mo., in 1994 to be close to her daughter and family. She was a member of Lakin United Methodist Church and North Nixa Baptist Church. A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Marla (Tom) Pariseau of Nixa; a sister, Lois Wieman of Pueblo, Colo.; two brothers, Pete (Jean) Bezona of Syracuse, and Roy Lee (Judy) Bezona of Walsh, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Jessie Melton of Granada; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Bezona of Granada; six grandchildren, Aaron Brooks, Emilee Thomas, Michelle (Marshall) Unruh, Nichole (Brian) Brunk, Joel (Jeanine) Pariseau and Kelly Pariseau; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Brian, Kaitlin, Elise, Shine, Taylor, Michael, Andrew, Jordyn and Gregory; and a whole host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. Burial will follow at Lakin Cemetery. 

Visitation hours are 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted at
