Marceline Louise Lefort McVey, 103, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.  

She was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Jamestown, to Charles and Eva Kate Swanson Bombardier. She attended Garden City schools.

A homemaker, Mrs. McVey also worked at Wall’s Foodliner for several years. She had been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1932. She enjoyed volunteering at the senior center, yard work, crocheting and her two birds that were her every-day company.

On July 23, 1932, she married Admer R. Lefort in Garden City. He died March 25, 1976. In 1981, she married William McVey. He died Feb. 16, 1996. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Lefort; a brother, Ronell Bombardier; and two grandsons.

Survivors include five daughters, Phyllis Prouty of Hesston, Vivian Cranston of Salina, Louise Buell of Garden City, Judy and husband Ronald Tincher of Olathe, and Mary K. and husband Bill Flanary of Kingland, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Lefort of Miltonvale; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.  

Visitation hours are noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
