MONTEZUMA — David W. Toews, 91, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.

He was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Montezuma, to Henry and Anna Wiens Toews. He attended Montezuma schools.

A lifetime resident of Montezuma, Mr. Toews was a farmer.

On June 12, 1949, he married Delilah Dirks. She died Dec. 19, 2003. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gerald Toews; and six siblings, Marie Wedel, Martha Goossen, Ruth Schmidt, Elizabeth Toews, Susie Toews and Clara Epson.

Survivors include four children, Sheryl Schmidt, Rodney Toews, James Toews and Lyndon Toews, all of Montezuma; four siblings, Nettie Goossen, Esther Penner, Frances Penner and Walter Toews; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Homeland Mennonite Church, Montezuma. Burial will follow at Homeland Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma. Memories may be shared in the guest book at Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home, in care of the funeral home.
