ULYSSES — Edna A. Romero, 72, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at her home in Ulysses.
She was born July 31, 1945, in Denver, to Luis and Beatrice Castanon Gutierrez.
In 1959, she married Charles Frank Romero in La Junta, Colo. They divorced in 1995.
Mrs. Romero was a certified nurse aide and certified medical aide, working in several towns, including Ulysses for the last 23 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Ortiz of Turpin, Okla., and Joyan Romero of Ulysses; three sons, Andy Romero of Edmond, Okla., Arthur Romero of Millbrook, Ala., and Chuck Romero of Guymon, Okla.; three sisters, Teresa Gomez and Cecelia Gamboa, both of Denver, and Julie Retana of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luis Gutierrez; her mother, Beatrice Castanon; two brothers, Luis Gutierrez Jr. and Arthur Gutierrez; six sisters, Delfina Aragon, Judy Martinez, Rachel Ramos, Lucy Fite, Francis Quintana and Dorothy Marquez; and a grandson.
Vigil and rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
