Freddie Rosas, 66, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at his home in Garden City. 

He was born April 11, 1951, in Post, Texas, to Octaviano “Toby” and Simona Bocanegra Rosas.

A Garden City resident since the 1960s, Mr. Rosas worked as a custodian for USD 457.

On June 13, 1970, he married Gloria Ortega in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include four children, Silvia Rosas of the home, and Alfredo (Marisa) Rosas, Marcella Rosas and Esperanza Rosas, all of Garden City; six grandchildren, Thomas Solorio, Karina Solorio, David Solorio, Aliah Solorio, Raven Rosas-Jefferson and Kofi Rosas-Afrifah; a great-grandchild, Giovanni Solorio; and his siblings, Pauline Asebedo, Nora Collazo, Raymond Luna, Frank Rosas and Toby Rosas, all of Garden City, Maria Collazo and Rita Montemayor, both of Texas, and Yolanda Chavez of Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Inez Luna, Juan Luna and Petra Luna; and an infant daughter, Simona Rosas.

Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
