Senior Center changes to curb-side meals

The Senior Center of Finney County has announced that as of Wednesday, no meals will be served inside the Senior Center until further notice due to the state limiting gatherings to 10 individuals or less.

Meals will be delivered to seniors in their vehicles in the facility’s south parking lot between 11:15am-12:15pm.  The center’s staff is asking patrons to line cars up on the curb along 10th street and into the south parking lot.  Staff and volunteers will bring meal(s) to the patrons vehicles out of the southwest entrance.  Donations for lunch will be picked up from the seniors at their cars.

Bus riders will pick up their meal at the front entrance to Senior Center. If you have not made a meal reservation already, call 272-3620 two days in advance to request meal service.

Activitities at the center were canceled last week for an undetermined time frame due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Meals on Wheels program, providing a meal to those unable to leave their homes, will continue with its normal schedule.

“It’s important that we keep it (Meals on Wheels) going, ” Leslie McCue, Friendship Meals nutrition site manager, said. “For some this might be their only meal of the day.”
