Garden City Public Schools has implemented travel restrictions for out-of-state student activities amid the COVID-19 scare.


On March 12, GCPS has received updated information from the Kansas Department of Education and the Finney County Health Department, in response to, and in the abundance of caution, GCPS has canceled all out-of-state student travel effective immediately until further notice.


These include all out-of-state field trips, events, conferences, tournaments and athletic activities.


All Garden City public schools are fully operational and scheduled activities within the schools, as well as travel in Kansas, will continue as planned.


District administration will continue to monitor the ever-changing situation and provide travel updates as information becomes available.


Garden City Public School asks that all student, families and staff members planning on traveling during spring break, March 16-20, take extra precautions and practice healthy habits to prevent contracting and spreading COVID-19.


Classes are expected to be back in session on March 23.


The Educational Support Center will be open Monday through Thursday during the week with regular business hours. The Teacher Resource Center will be closed during the week.
