Garden City Community College’s Mercer Gallery will present its next art exhibit, “Color & Canon,” starting March 23.
The show will feature the work of Nick Geankoplis, a professor who leads the ceramics program at Kansas State University, and Flor Widmar, a resident ceramic artist also at KSU.
Both artists’ work will be on display in the Mercer Gallery through April 24. The gallery show concludes with an artist demonstration on this date from 1 to 4 p.m. in room 1413 of the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building, followed by an artist reception from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Mercer Gallery.
Widmar, born in California but raised in Chihuahua, Mexico, earned her B.F.A. from Sierra Nevada College. Her work has been featured in various solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including Denmark and Japan.
Geankoplis, a practicing artist in addition to educator, has been a part of the ceramics world for the better part of two decades, taking his work and research to nearly a dozen countries.
Both artists’ work will be on display in the Mercer Gallery through April 24.
The Mercer Gallery is open Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
