Esther Anne (Pfeifer) Gigot, age 79, of Garden City died December 21, 2019 at St. Catherine hospital in Garden City. She was born October 13, 1940 in Liberal, KS the daughter of Charles Anthony & Frances Esther (Bohn) Pfeifer. Esther graduated from Garden City High School in 1958.

Esther met C. Dean Gigot in 1961. They were married on February 21, 1962, and later divorced. Together they raised five children; Gina and husband Rod Stillwell, Lisa Mason, Marc and wife Jackie Gigot, Darren and wife Jennifer Gigot all of Garden City, and Jacque K. and husband Tom Portillo of Amarillo, TX. Other survivors include a brother Paul A. and wife Diana Pfeifer of Holcomb; three sisters Carol Schwartz of College Station, TX, Rosalie Pfeifer of Sausalito, CA, & Betty and husband Rod Rossman of Jackson Hole, WY; grandchildren Nick Herrmann, Janelle Mason, Tate Mason, Wyatt Gigot, Lauren Gigot, William Portillo, Jarod Portillo, Audrey Portillo, Veronica Portillo, Chase Carlin, & Garrett Gigot; a great-grandchild Brooks Carlin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Esther is preceded in death by her parents; a sister Mary K. (Pfeifer) Wendel; and longtime companion Al Lorkovick.

A homemaker and devoted mother of five, Esther enjoyed volunteering for many groups and activities throughout the years. St. Dominic School Board, Southwest Kansas Cattlewomen, Happy Hustlers 4-H Club, GCHS Takedown Club, GCHS FFA, Belles of St. Catherine Gift Nook, and the Altar Society of St. Dominic Church where Esther was known as the “Deviled Egg Lady” of funeral dinners.

Vigil service and Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on December 26, 2019 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on December 27, 2019 also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Warren Stecklein and Rev. John Strasser as Celebrants. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to St. Dominic Catholic Church, the Finney County 4-H Foundation, or GCHS FFA, all in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be given at
