COLORADO SPRINGS – Larry Duren Spence of Colorado Springs died Nov. 21, 2019 at Primrose Hospital. Larry was born in Santa Rita, NM, son to James Reuben and Ida Marie Spence on July 21, 1951. Larry was a long time resident of Colorado Springs and worked in the high technology industry as an electronic technician.

Larry is survived by 9 brothers and sisters – Ray Hidalgo of Garden City, KS, Grace Gonzales of Las Vegas, NM, James Spence of  Garden City, KS, Eugene Spence of Pueblo, CO, Sylvia Kowalke of Tomball, TX, John Spence of Austin, TX, Christopher Spence of Independence, MO, Melinda Ricketts of Independence, MO and Patricia Herrera of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents James Reuben and Ida Marie Spence.

Larry was a man of many interests and talents. He built custom PCs from scratch, raced sand rail cars, loved skiing, photography, astronomy, playing golf, camping in the mountains and panning for gold. Life in Colorado gave him the ability to explore and enjoy all his interests. Larry was also an animal lover, often taking in stray pets.

A private family service was held on Monday, November 25, 2019 to celebrate his life. He was loved and will be missed by all his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you donate to the American Cancer Society in his name.
