Freda D. Long, age 76, died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born on Aug. 4, 1943 in Stoddard County, Missouri the daughter of Willard “Bill” & Opal (Richard) Cox. She married Ben Harmon Long on April 25, 1961 in Stoddard County Missouri. Freda and Harmon moved to Kansas in 1966 and lived in Copeland for a short time before moving to Garden City. She work at USD 457 as a custodian.
She is survived by her Son, Scott Long of Garden City, Daughter-In-Law- Karan Long of Garden City and Kelly Long of Satanta, 2 Brothers; Mike Cox of Middlebrook, Missouri and Roger Cox of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin; 3 Sisters; Barbara White and husband Prentis of Pierceville, Kansas; Kathy Taylor of Goreville, Illinois and Sharon Greemore and husband Robert of Portageville, Missouri; 6 Grandchildren – Tonya Claussen of Garden City, Jeremy Long and wife Amy of Deerfield, Randal Long of Garden City, Brandon Long and wife Maggie of Alton, Lisa Wood and husband Justin of Satanta, Megan Long and fiancée Zach Day of Moscow and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons- Bruce Long and Floyd “Randy” Long, three Brothers and two Sisters.
Her Celebration of Living will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
