OTTAWA — The Ottawa University Braves football team will play its home opener Saturday on a newly named field.

As part of a 10-year naming-rights agreement with AdventHealth Ottawa, the Braves will hit the gridiron for the first time on AdventHealth Field at Ottawa University in their KCAA clash with Kansas Wesleyan.

AdventHealth’s naming rights were finalized in June and replace the previous agreement OU had with the former Peoples Bank. An official naming ceremony is planned with OU and AdventHealth officials at halftime of the Homecoming football game against Avila University on Oct. 12. The ceremony will also include the dedication of a new state-of-the-art press box and expanded Braves Hall of Fame, which is nearing completion.

“Ottawa University is proud to enter into this agreement with AdventHealth, an institution that shares our values and is focused on whole-person health just as we are committed to developing the whole person in our educational offerings,” OU Chancellor Kevin Eichner said. “The partnership represents AdventHealth’s commitment to the Ottawa community and is tangible recognition of the central role played by both institutions in Ottawa. They are very supportive of our university, OU’s athletic programs and the region generally. We're deeply grateful for AdventHealth’s generous financial commitment.”

AdventHealth Field at Ottawa University is at the heart of the university’s beautiful residential campus and will be the exclusive venue for its Ottawa-based football, soccer and lacrosse programs, attracting fans, community members and many others who support the Braves exceptional athletic programs.

“We are proud longtime supporters of Ottawa University, and look forward to the next 10 years of this partnership,” said Matt Heyn, president & CEO of AdventHealth Ottawa. “We’re honored to contribute to the legacy of another faith-based Ottawa organization that does so much not only for its students, but for our entire community.”

The community can expect to see updated signage with a new AdventHealth Field logo on the scoreboard this Saturday. Additional campus signage and other marketing efforts will be forthcoming before and after the Oct. 12 naming ceremony.
