Gretchen (Vant Hull) Tiberghien, 74, of Sartell, Minn., died June 23, 2019, after a short battle with cancer. She was born May 5, 1945, in Minneapolis.

Gretchen graduated from Hopkins High School in 1963. She received her undergraduate degree at St. Catherine’s College and her graduate degrees at Pittsburg State University and Fort Hays State University. She was a lifelong educator, teaching theater and speech at Garden City Community College in Garden City and mass communication at Saint Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn. She served on the school board for multiple years and was the public relations director for Garden City USD 457.

She was a talented seamstress who volunteered at St. Katharine Drexel Elementary School, teaching second graders how to sew. Her cooking and catering skills were known and enjoyed far and wide. Gretchen belong to a local prayer group, book club and was a proficient bridge player. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, trivia and was an expert on the Holocaust, having given many lectures and presentations. Her favorite profession was that of being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Circle and husband Tom of McCune, Benjamin Tiberghien and wife Crystal of Joplin, Mo., and Mischa Idzerda and husband Erin of Sartell, Minn.; grandchildren Seth, Ethan, Jarin, Kieran, Claire and Elliot; great-grandchildren Avery and Valdimir; sister, Christine Park and husband Gary; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Muriel Vant Hull; and brothers, Peter and Jon Vant Hull.

Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30 at the Church of St. Augustine, 442 Second St. SE, St. Cloud, Minn., with visitation scheduled for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to or to the memorials the family will be placing at St. Cloud State University and outside the local library in Sartell, Minn.
