A 7-year-old boy from Syracuse died last weekend after the Polaris Ranger ATV he was driving on his own crashed in rural Hamilton County.

Kanon Michael Bowles, 7, was driving the ATV eastbound on River Road at about 6:05 p.m. Saturday, July 6 when the vehicle began to rotate clockwise on all four tires, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The ATV skidded off the roadway to the south, rotating over the driver’s side an undetermined amount of times until Bowles was ejected from the cart. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP. The vehicle came to rest about 3 miles west of Kansas Highway 27 on River Road.

Bowles was taken to Hamilton County Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
