Drop-in art: Come in anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. at Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St., and enjoy multiple art-making stations suitable for the whole family. The program is free.

USD 457 commencement: The graduation exercises for the USD 457 Garden City Alternate Education Center and Virtual Academy will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Clifford Hope Auditorium on the Horace J. Good Middle School campus, 1412 N. Main St. Parents and guests are asked to enter Horace Good Middle School through door three on the southwest side of the building. The doors will be open at 9:30 a.m. for guests to enter the auditorium and be seated.

Holcomb commencement: Holcomb High School will hold its commencement ceremony for the class of 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the HHS gym.

Carnival: Ottaway Amusements' Beef Empire Days Carnival will run from 6 to 11 p.m. each night through Sunday, May 19, at the west end of the Finney County Fairgrounds.

Concert: Garden City High School will hold its Modern Show Choir showcase at 7:30 p.m. in the GCHS auditorium, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd.



Golf class: Hello Golf! is an introductory golf class, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course, for those looking to learn more about the game and have fun at the same time. Cost is $30.



School Showcase: Lakin Middle School is hosting a showcase for community members, with student-made products for sale, a quilt raffle and a silent auction starting at 5:30 p.m. at the school. All proceeds go back to the school.



Art workshop: Robin Valenzuela will lead this workshop where you will complete original artwork using Marabu's Art Crayons and Art Sprays. The workshop, scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. at Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St., costs $45, or $40 for GCA members.



Longhorn Stampede 2019: The 11th annual Holcomb Recreation Commission walk/run event to promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle will be from 8 to 11 a.m. at the HRC, 106 Wiley St., Holcomb.

Legislative Coffee: The Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce's monthly town hall meeting featuring southwest Kansas state lawmakers is scheduled for 10 a.m. at St. Catherine Hospital. There is no cost to attend and a full breakfast will be served, courtesy of the hospital. 

Mini & Me: The painting class for adults and the children in their lives, starting at 10 a.m. at Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St., will lead participants step-by-step through a painting project. All supplies will be provided. For ages 5 and older. Cost is $30, or $25 for GCA members.

Quilts of Valor: At 2 p.m., El Quartelejo Museum in Scott City is hosting a Quilts of Valor presentation for veterans.

Car show: Bring your cool toy, vintage, new, low-rider cars and motorcycles to the Kansas Kruisers Kruise-In at the Clarion from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Clarion Inn, 1911 E. Kansas Ave.

GCHS commencement: Commencement exercises for the 132nd Garden City High School senior class will take place at 7 p.m. in the GCHS gymnasium, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. Guests are asked to enter the gymnasium and be seated starting at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony also will be broadcast on the large screens in the GCHS auditorium and on Buffalo Broadcasting System cable channel 21 and online at the Garden City High School Buffaloes YouTube channel for those who do not have tickets for the event.

Blushing Artiste: Have a glass of wine and light hors d’oeuvres while creating a painting you can take home from 7 to 9 p.m. at Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St. Must be 21 or older. Cost is $35 for nonmembers and $30 for GCA members. To reserve a spot, contact the gallery at 620-290-9700.

Music concert: Chancey Williams and The Younger Brothers Band will be performing from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Golf Club at Southwind, 77 Grandview Drive, Garden City. Tickets are on sale at the clubhouse.

Project Graduation: The safe, positive nightlong event for Garden City High School graduates will take place 9:45 p.m. May 18 to 2 a.m. May 19 at the Garden City Family YMCA, 1224 Center St.
