What: The Cultural Empowerment & Development Foundation celebration continues with the 5K Run to Overcome Diabetes, a parade, festivities in the park and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

When: 5K race check-in at 8 a.m., run at 8:30 a.m., outside Lee Richardson Zoo in Finnup Park; parade on Main Street, starting at 10 a.m.; festivities and food vendors in Stevens Park, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; basketball tournament, 3 to 11 p.m., at the Carlos Bribiesca Basketball Courts in Finnup Park.

What: Garden City Community College, in partnership with High Plains Public Radio and the Tumbleweed Festival, will host soul duo Nikki Talley and Jason Sharp in concert.

Walk 'N' Whoa

What: The annual fundraiser for the Miles of Smiles therapeutic horsemanship program. The event will include a benefit auction and dance. This year's theme is "Hats, Horses & Hope!"

When: 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Clarion Inn, 1911 E. Kansas Ave.

Tickets: $25, $10 for kids 4-10, and under 4 are free. Tickets are being sold at Garden True Value, Baker Boot and the Crazy House, as well as at the door the night of the event.

 

Cinco de Mayo celebration

What: The Cultural Empowerment & Development Foundation celebration continues with the Cinco de Mayo 5-on-5 soccer tournament, which will feature different age divisions and divisions for men, women and co-ed teams.
