Buffalo Jones Elementary School, named after one of Garden City’s earliest residents, will celebrate its 101st anniversary Friday with several activities, including a time capsule.

An impersonator of Charles Jesse "Buffalo" Jones, a hunter and preserver of the American Bison who had a hand in building Garden City, will be at the school from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and students will run through activity stations from 1 to 3 p.m., when a school-wide aerial photo will be taken. At 3:30 p.m., students and staff will bury a time capsule.
