The Kansas State Showcase of Excellence Exhibit accepted four Garden City High School students’ fashion looks into their exhibit, giving them the opportunity to show them off to the public and industry professionals.
The pieces include: Seferino Ramirez’s White & Gold Dress, Tammy Truong’s Physicalization of Mental Illness (Hamlet Ghost), Zaza Boutdara’s Hamlet Jacket and Sa Pi Ma Be’s White & Floral Party Dress.
The exhibit and runway show are the kick-off events of the annual Apparel Textiles Interior Design (ATID) Student Symposium. Its conceptual theme, “Thrive!”, pushed students to make pieces that represented humans’ physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental, economical and financial well-being. Entry statements addressed how the work impacted quality of life, happiness, wellness, contentment, relationships, social cohesion, human systems or other aspects of human ecology.
Two- and three-dimensional and digital work were accepted from current Kansas State University undergraduate or graduate students, recent graduates and students in grades seven to 12.
