ABC Pregnancy Care Center will hold a youth event next week with former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, the guest of its sold-out annual fundraising banquet.
Johnson has become a prominent pro-life advocate since she resigned from Planned Parenthood in 2009 after a change of heart she said she had when assisting with an ultrasound guided abortion at the clinic. Since then, Johnson has founded And Then There Were None, a nonprofit, anti-abortion organization that urges abortion workers to quit their jobs and offers resources to those that do. She's also written two books about her and other abortion workers' experiences. Next month, Pure Flix's "Unplanned," a film chronicling Johnson's story directed by "God's Not Dead" writers Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, will hit theaters.
Partnering with Bible Christian Church, ABC will hold a youth question-and-answer event, where youth group leaders, parents and teens will receive a copy of Johnson's story from the banquet the night before and have an opportunity to ask her follow-up questions via video conference. ABC staff and Bible Christian pastors will be on hand to talk after the event. It will run from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bible Christian Church, 1501 E. Mary St.
ABC will also hold a fundraising luncheon and annual banquet, both featuring Johnson in person, on Tuesday, and an open house at the pregnancy center from 6 to 8 p.m. March 7. For more information, call Hannah Proffitt at ABC at (620) 271-1330.
