Eileen F. Gallagher, 97, a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, passed away surrounded by family, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Vintage Park at Lenexa.
Eileen F. Gallagher, 97, a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, passed away surrounded by family, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Vintage Park at Lenexa. She was born May 22, 1921, in Leavenworth, the daughter of William Bernard and Catherine Anna (Weidmann) Madden.
She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Parish.
On Dec. 29, 1938, Eileen married her beloved husband, Robert Gallagher. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert David Gallagher Jr.; and a grandson, Cliff Howard Bankson.
Eileen is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Howard) Bankson and Cindy (Arthur) DeMotte; two sons, Richard Gallagher and Daniel Gallagher; a sister-in-law, Helen Gallagher; and 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation beginning with the rosary will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Immaculate Conception Church, with Fr. David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church.
