Twenty-seven local businesses, from a teenager’s homemade dog treats to hand-crocheted creations to consultants for sales, accessories, fragrances and more, will stuff into the American Legion Hall Thursday night for The Garden City Telegram’s Ho Ho Holiday Expo, a fair that gives residents a chance to shop small and get a jump on the holidays.

The expo, kicking off its first year, will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 405 S. Main St., and will include door prize drawings from different vendors, a “Selfies with Santa” station and concessions, including Sloppy Joes. Gift bags also will be available for children and adults, including different gift certificates and coupons, and vendors will participate in an ugly sweater contest.

The Telegram encourages attendees to bring items for a food and donation drive for Emmaus House and the Finney County Humane Society, including canned food and other nonperishables for the former and dog food, dog beds, collars, leashes and other pet supplies for the latter.

“We’re after Black Friday, all the shopping is over and done with, but this is a good way to give back. And plus, it’s supporting these small local businesses, which is always good for the community,” said Ashelei Cruz, multimedia sales executive at The Telegram and co-organizer of the expo.

The vendors list is comprised of nearby storefronts, online and home-based start-ups and independent consultants mostly based in or around Garden City.

Vendors include: Gravity Wellness Spa, Berta’s Flowers and Festivities, Imprint Designs, Christopher Cruz Designs, SageHouse Soaps, Whiskey and Wood, Real Time Pain Relief, Lauren’s Treat, Origami Owl, Faith and Denim, Horton Show Pigs, Powers Custom Cups, Quirky Quaker, Curb Appeal Boutique, Kelley’s Festival Foods, Jennifer’s Fabulous Fiesta through Younique, Sparkle Thru the Mud through Color Street and local consultants from Vantel Pearls, Lip Sense, Clever Container, Norwex, ZYIA Active, Paparazzi, Young Living Essential Oils, Pink Zebra, Usborne Books and PartyLite.
