The Garden City Community College meats judging team finished its fall season as reserve national champions, and the high team and national champions in lamb judging.
The season ended with an event in Friona, Texas, on Oct. 28, where the team also placed second in the national beef grading, beef judging, questions, placings and total beef competitions. The team also finished third in pork judging.
Out of the eight All-Americans, an honor based on judging performance and GPA, named at the competition, four were from GCCC. GCCC student Joni Loepky of Satanta was named first team All-American and members Micaila Lock of Wallace, Bailee Hatch of Kersey, Colo., and Jose Sanchez of Garden City were named second team All-Americans.
