Garden City native Ernest Garcia, his family and the author that penned his new biography will greet the public and sign and sell books at a reception at the Finney County Historical Museum Nov. 3.
The come-and-go reception will run from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the museum.
The book, “Marine, Public Servant, Kansan — The Life of Ernest Garcia” draws on oral histories of Garcia and the family members that came before him that run alongside the Great Depression, Dust Bowl and both world wars, as well as Garcia’s life as a sergeant at arms in the U.S. Senate.
Garcia’s family immigrated to Finney County from Mexico, and he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and escorted President Ronald Reagan to the podium to deliver his initial State of tje Union address. The book is written by Garcia’s cousin, Dennis Raphael Garcia, a retired attorney and teacher now living in Virginia.
