Ticket sales have opened for the Finney County Historical Society’s 2018 Walking Tours of Valley View Cemetery.
The tours, scheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. Oct. 11 through 13, are in their fifth year. They are hosted jointly by the cemetery and the historical society and sponsored by Price and Sons Funeral Home, with support from the Finney County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Each tour will be led by Johnetta Hebrlee, Finney County Museum education coordinator.
Each tour will run approximately 90 minutes, including stops at a dozen or more gravesites and memorials, though the route varies annually. Volunteer re-enactors will emerge at certain points to portray figures from the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Tour groups will gather at the cemetery office building. Parking will be available east of the office, inside the cemetery fence off north Third Street. Flashlights, good walking shoes and jackets are recommended.
Admission is $12 per person, with cash or checks accepted. Tickets will be sold daily in advance only at the museum, 403 S. Fourth in Finnup Park. The tours are geared primarily for adults, and each group is limited in size to enhance the experience.
