The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting authorities in Hodgeman County with a homicide investigation after a body was discovered Monday in a field.

At 10:09 p.m. Monday, the Hodgeman County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a farmer reporting he had found a body in his field, KBI spokeswoman Melissa Underwood said in a news release.

Deputies located a Hispanic male about three miles west of Hanston, and east of the intersection of N.W. 225 Road and N Road.

The sheriff's office asked for the KBI's assistance at about 10:45 p.m., and KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded.

The victim hasn't been identified. An autopsy will be conducted.

The case is being investigated as a homicide, Underwood said.
