A Garden City man was arrested Aug. 31 on a several counts after police say he resisted arrest during a traffic stop.

At about 3:21 p.m., officers pulled a vehicle over in the 500 block of North 11th Street and identified the occupants as Nathan Harrison, 38, 2707 C St., and Sheena Deaton, 31, 309 W. Santa Fe. Harrison, who police say was armed with a knife, allegedly resisted officers and a struggle ensued.

Police say children were being dismissed from nearby St. Mary Catholic School, 503 St. John St., at the time of the incident and the school was briefly placed on lockdown until the incident was resolved. Officers were able to take Harrison into custody, and Deaton was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured.

Harrison was arrested and lodged in the Finney County jail on allegations of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stimulant, battery of a law enforcement officer, interference with a law enforcement officer, criminal threat, criminal damage to property and driving under the influence.

Deaton was arrested on allegations of possession of a stimulant and possession of drug paraphernalia.
