Blushing Artiste

What: Bring your friends to Garden City Arts and have a glass of wine and light hors d’oeuvres while creating a painting that you can take home at the end of the night. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow, step-by-step instructions. Participants will paint on 14-by-18 stretched canvases. Participants must be 21 or older.

When: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday

Community Mexican Fiesta

What: Garden City’s Community Mexican Fiesta is celebrating its 92nd year, and again will feature a parade on Main Street, activities in Stevens Park and a scholarship queen pageant. The celebration in Stevens Park will start with an invocation, singing of the American and Mexican national anthems and the traditional “el grito” by representatives of the Mexican Consulate of Kansas City. Events also will feature family-friendly activities, food and live music by Christian Valle, Son Lagunero and Resistencia Norteña, as well as Compañeros Mix DJ Services and folkloric dancers.

When: Queen pageant, 7 p.m. Friday; parade, 10 a.m. Saturday; activities in Stevens Park, 11 a.m. after the parade.

Garden City Farmer’s Market

What: The farmer’s market features a variety of home-grown produce, hand-crafted items, homemade foods and Colorado fruits for sale.

Harvest Flea Market

What: Harvest Flea Market combines a farmers market and flea market experience, with 300 spaces for vendors offering food, furniture, artwork and more.

When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; the flea market dates run May through October.

Where: The west end of the Finney County Fairgrounds parking lot

GCA Creatives

What: If you like to craft or create art, this group of local creators gathers to discuss, learn and grow together, which each month featuring a different theme.

A Wild Affair

What: The Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo event will feature live music by Mike Benish and the Buckner Creek Band, adult beverages, food samples from restaurants and caterers from southwest Kansas, and unique items available at a live and silent auction. Attendees must be at least 21 and purchase tickets in advance. Funds raised will go toward improvements at the zoo.
