Holcomb USD 363 has announced the hiring of Dr. Scott P. Myers as its new superintendent, effective July 1.
The school board approved the hire at a Feb. 21 meeting. Myers comes to Holcomb from Topeka USD 501, where he has served as the Dean of Students at Ross Elementary School since September, according to a press release from USD 363.
Myers will replace Jean Rush, who will resign at the end of the school year after serving as the district's superintendent since 2011. The school board accepted Rush’s resignation at its Nov. 13 meeting. Her last day on the job will be June 30.
Myers formerly was an associate head master at a school in China, as well as the director of teacher licensure and accreditation at the Kansas State Department of Education for five years. He also has served as a director of Title Programs and Services at the Kansas State Department of Education, as an assistant professor in educational leadership at Washburn University, as a superintendent mentor, and formerly as superintendent of schools for Elkhart USD 218 and Jefferson West USD 340 in Meriden.
Myers is a graduate of Washburn University and has his doctorate from Kansas State University.
