A 57-year-old woman suspected of attempted second-degree murder was behind bars in Jefferson County following her arrest over the weekend.

The woman, Michelle Gonzales, was arrested by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies. She was booked into the Jefferson County Jail in Oskaloosa at 4:05 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Gonzales was arrested in connection with several crimes, including attempted murder in the second degree; theft of property or services; possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; criminal use of a financial card; and mistreatment of a dependent adult.

Jail officials said Gonzales is a resident of Jefferson County.

No bond had been set as of 10:45 a.m. Monday, pending Gonzales' first appearance before a judge.
