Gregory Vern Upchurch, 75, of Saint Charles, MO, died peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2022.
He was born at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS on June 1, 1947. He graduated from Holcomb High School in 1965. Greg married Cynthia Marie Kyle on December 18, 1971, in Garden City, KS. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in December of 2021.
Greg was an Eagle Scout and also served his country as a U.S. Navy Aviation Ordnanceman for four years. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He was an avid hunter, fisher, softball player, bowler, and golfer, and owned Upchurch Carpet for over 13 years. He loved his family and friends, those by blood and those he adopted by his choice.
He was predeceased by his parents Charley and Iola Upchurch, his sister Gwendolyn Upchurch, his son U.S. Army Specialist Clinton Upchurch, and granddaughter Alyssa Marie Beard.
He was survived by his wife Cynthia, one halfbrother, Jimmy Bryan (Kelley), his daughter, Misty Upchurch, his son, John (Jessica) Upchurch, and two grandchildren, Logan Upchurch (Misty) and Christian Upchurch (John and Jessica). Also survived by daughter-in-law Kari Upchurch of Kentucky, three step-grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Stewart of Kentucky, Earl Stewart of akentucky, and Patrick Upchurch also of Kentucky (Kari), and three step-greatgrandchildren, Isaac, Callum, and Vivienne Stewart.
A celebration of life will take place outside of his home in Saint Charles on Saturday, August 27th at 4:30 pm. Graveside services will take place at Valley View Cemetery on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in Garden City, KS at 1:30 pm. A reception is planned to follow.
