Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club

The Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club met May 5 at Holcomb Elementary School.

Vice President Morgan Hammond led the meeting and officers gave reports. The club then said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge, and Hammond explained some of the planned changes for this year’s Finney County Fair.

Under old business, the club continued discussion and planning of its monthly community service projects. This month, the club made a donation to the Nebraska 4-H Foundation to help 4-Hers affected by recent flooding. For June, they will collect pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House, Ink Cartridges for Magic’s HOPE and form a committee to make treats for fair board members.

YQCA was also brought up again. If a 4-Her is showing livestock, they must complete the course online or at an instructor-led course on May 22.

The club also discussed the June meeting, where members will order pizza, make door or stall signs for the fair and conduct a poster tour. Members are encouraged to bring pictures or a poster to show their projects.

Travis Oliver gave a project talk on his show pigs, canned goods for the Emmaus House were collected, and May birthdays were celebrated. Song leader Ryland Wallace shared a song about school being out soon.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be June 2 at Holcomb Elementary.
