There are many things happening at the Senior Center of Finney County. Here is a sampling:

Friendship Meals

Friendship Meals - Nutrition Services for Older Kansans. Join us at noon Monday through Friday for a hot nutritious meal. All we ask for is a 24-hour notice the first time you come in. You will then fill out a UPR (Uniform Program Registration) that has to be filled out annually and a menu for future meals. For persons 60 and older, the cost is a suggested contribution of $3.50. Persons younger than 60 must pay full cost of $5.75. For reservations, call (620) 272-3620 and ask for Leslie.

Friendship Meals is a service of ElderCare, Inc., and is funded by customer contributions, and contracted through the SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging in cooperation with the Kansas Department on Aging and Disability Services, Administration on Aging, Health and Human Services.

Meals on Wheels

If you are homebound due to age, illness, convalescing from surgery or accident and have a doctor’s order, then you qualify for Meals on Wheels. Meals are delivered by volunteers at 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. The cost of meals are $3.60, with scholarships available for low-income clients. Funding for Meals on Wheels comes from customer contributions, some tax dollars, grants, donations and memorials. At this time, we do have a few openings on the city routes. Unfortunately, the county route is full with a waiting list. Call Meals on Wheels at (620) 272-3620 and ask for Patti. There is always a need for volunteers and donations.

Medicare Enrollment

Open Enrollment for Medicare starts Ocxt. 15 and closes Dec. 7. Call (620) 272-3620 to make an appointment to meet with one of our counselors. They will sit down with you and assist you in finding insurance that will work best for you and the prescriptions you‘re taking.
