Too hot to cook? Join us at the Senior Center of Finney County at noon Monday through Friday for lunch. Cost of the meals are a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 and older. For anyone younger than 60, the cost is $5.75.

All through the month of August there will be a drawing for a free lunch each day. Come join us for lunch and see if you’re the lucky winner of a free lunch.

Farmers Market coupons

Last chance to get a Farmers Market voucher. They are available to people who are 60 or older and meet income guidelines ($1,872 per month for a one-person household). These coupons can be spent with participating venders at the Farmers Markets on Saturday.

If you are interested and meet guidelines, drop by the senior center with your proof of income. We are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

 

Help with Medicare questions

We are happy to announce that Dick Monical will be volunteering to help with Medicare questions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Call the senior center at (620) 272-3620 to schedule an appointment.

 

Meals on Wheels

Beat the fall rush and get signed up for Meals on Wheels now, while we have some openings on the city routes. At this time, our county route is full with a waiting list.

We deliver a hot, nutritious noon meal Monday through Friday with an option of a sack lunch for Saturday delivered along with Friday’s meal.

To receive Meals on Wheels, you must be homebound due to age, illness, recent surgery or disability. We need a doctor’s order and application filled out. It is very important that after you request an order from your doctor, you follow up with Patti Thummel with Meals on Wheels at (620) 272-3620 so she can help you complete your application and get your meals started.

 

Special talents

Do you have a special talent? If you do, would you be willing to share it with us at the senior center? We are looking for leaders/teachers for crafts, games, exercise and electronics. If you or a group like to sing or play instruments, we would love to have you share this talent. Teachers, if your kiddos are needing an audience to practice for upcoming programs, speeches, debates, skits or contests, give us a call at (620) 272-3620. We would be thrilled to have them come and perform for us.
