Sherlock Strivers 4-H

The Sherlock Strivers 4-H Club met Sunday at Holcomb Elementary School, with 23 members in attendance.

Officers’ reports were given. The club members were reminded that Finney County Fair entries are online again this year and are due Friday.   

The Southwest Spectacular Horse Show is set for Saturday in the Grandstand Arena. The 4-H Horse project members can show at the event.

Members were informed of a meeting for Livestock Superintendents and 4-H’ers to set up the Livestock Barn and get buyer information. Members also decided to meet Monday to paint business windows around the community to advertise the fair.

Layla Schreibvogel gave a project talk about her goats. 

After celebrating July birthdays, the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be Aug. 26 at Holcomb Elementary School.


Senior center cards

John Bunnell won high in the two tables of pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Bob Baker. Jeanie Spor took third.

In the three tables of pinochle played June 27, Jean Wildeman won high. Bunnell and Bob Ellis tied for second place. Third went to Baker.

Albert Spor won high in the three tables of pitch played June 26. Second place went to Carol Klaus. Coleen Rupp was third.

In the two tables of pinochle played June 25, Baker won high, Bunnell was second, and Ellis took third.

Rupp won high in the two tables of pitch played Tuesday. Bunnell placed second. Maybelle Bowen took third.
