Free concert on April 22

"Music & Musings,” a free concert for the community, will feature Will Friesen at the organ and piano.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. April 22 at The Presbyterian Church, 1719 E. Texas St.

Friesen is a native of southwest Kansas and has lived in Garden City for nearly two years. He teaches chemistry at Garden City Community College.

He studied organ and piano in addition to chemistry at Tabor College and Bethel College prior to moving to Buffalo, N.Y., for several years of graduate study. He has been active in sacred music since his childhood, serving in churches ranging from Mennonite to Episcopal in Kansas, New York and Ontario.

His program includes organ classics from Bach, Boëllmann and Marcello, as well as modern arrangements of well-known sacred music. He also will share stories about the music, the composers who created it and the instruments for which it was composed.

Admission is free, although a free-will offering will be received on behalf of the Oasis of Peace Center, for female victims of human trafficking. The concert will be followed by a reception.
