Kristina Kay Murry and Michael Ray Powell, both of Garden City, were married Aug. 27, 2011, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Father Rene Labrador officiated the 2 p.m., double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of John and Wanda Murry of Garden City. Her grandparents are Clair and Jean Murry of South Coffeyville, Okla.; and the late Val and Marcella Baier of Holcomb.
The groom's parents are Dean and Roberta Powell of Garden City. His grandparents are John Vigil of Garden City; and the late Carol and Mavis Powell of Garden City.
Matron of honor was Johanna Cornett, the bride's sister from Garden City. Bridesmaids were Amanda Simmons of Holcomb; and Alicia Staats, Nici Jewell and April Wood, all of Garden City.
Best man was Christopher Powell, the groom's brother from Hereford, Texas. Groomsmen were Cory Hassler of Garden City; Adrian Aldaco and Tyler Kemp, both of Manhattan; and Gerardo Varela of Salina.
Candlelighters were Caitlin Sander of Grand Junction, Colo.; and Shannon Deaver of Ingalls.
The flower girl was Darian Nicholson of Holcomb. Gage Millershaski of Ingalls was the ringbearer.
Serving as ushers were Timothy and Patrick Murry, both of Garden City.
Charla Batman of Garden City was the organist. Scott Powell of Pratt was the soloist. Music selections included "The Wedding Song (There Is Love)," "Trumpet Voluntary," "Clair de Lune" and "Water Music: Hornpipe." The wedding march was led by Larry and Jovita Baier of Holcomb.
Scripture reader was Jana Ohman of Garden City. Program and guestbook attendants were Keri Deaver of Manhattan; Kailina Sander of Falcon, Colo.; and Jana Ohman of Garden City.
The ceremony was followed by a reception, given by the couple's parents, in the Grand Ballroom at the Clarion Inn in Garden City. Assistants were Amy Lofthouse of Rockford, Ill.; Connie Fickler of Wichita; and Jennifer Stevens of Russell.
The bride graduated from Garden City High School in 2006, attended Wichita State University and Garden City Community College and graduated from Seward County Community College in 2011 with an associates of applied sciences degree in respiratory therapy. She is a respiratory therapist at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
The groom graduated from Garden City High School in 2007 and attended Garden City Community College. He is employed as a welder at Mid-America Millwright in Garden City.
After a wedding trip cruise to Cozumel, Mexico and Progreso, Mexico, the newlyweds are at home in Garden City.
