Jackson J. Norton, 90, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
He was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Garden City, to Eardie K. and Anna R. Goertz Norton. He graduated from Holcomb High School.
On March 14, 1946, he married Marjorie Lou Deck in Deerfield. They soon moved to Garden City, where Mr. Norton worked as a carpenter for several years before going to work for the Coca Cola Company, serving as a vending machine technician. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing dominoes, gardening and lounging in his lawn chair.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Norton of Garden City; three brothers, Eardie Norton Jr. of Garden City, Sanford Norton of Texas, and Billy Norton of Colorado; two sisters, Betty Frye of Texas, and Nina Cross of Kansas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three sons, Gerald Norton, Jimmy Norton and Steven Norton; two daughters, Ann Burnett and Barbra Hahn; two brothers, John Norton and Jake Norton; and a sister, Dena Fross.
A private family graveside service will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
