Dale Lav e r n e Clews, age 84, died at Hays Med, Hays, Kansas, on June 7, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1937, on the family farm near Arnold, Kansas, the son of John Henry and Esther Barbara (Weber) Clews.
Dale was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Garden City for over 40 years where he frequently served as an usher. He later attended Turning Point Church of the Nazarene when his health allowed. Dale had a passion for helping things grow, whether it was on a farm or in his garden. He loved fishing and being with his family. On June 19, 1965, he married Shirley Mae Evel in Ness City, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his two sons, Richard Clews and his wife, Rachael, and Rodney Clews and his wife, Stephanie, all of Garden City; his daughter, Rachel McSwan and her husband, Daniel, of Dighton; one brother, Vyrl Hank Clews and his wife, Patti, of McKinney, TX; four grandchildren, Georgia Clews, Jonathan McSwan, Wade McSwan (Sofia), and Whitney McSwan; and one greatgranddaughter, Autumn McSwan.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Fern; and five brothers, Earl, LeRoy, Lindsey, Don and Floyd.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Turning Point Church of the Nazarene, Garden City, viewing will be available prior to the service. Burial in the Arnold Cemetery, Arnold, Kansas immediately following.
