The Hugoton Eagles proved to be the best in their home tournament as they defeated the Ulysses Tigers, 63-38, on Saturday to finish first in the Hugoton Red & Blue Classic.

Hugoton’s Zack Leininger led the Eagles with 17 points, hitting one 3-pointer, while Parker Titus hit two 3-pointers for a total of 13 points. Both Kellen Watkins and Tony Kinser scored 10 points.

Ulysses’ Tregg Rodriguez had a game high of 13 points, and sunk one 3-pointer for the Tigers. Zach Zerr was close behind with 12 points and two 3-pointers.

Guymon, Okla. 63, Lakin 48

Lakin came up short in the Hugoton Red Blue Classic third-place game on Saturday as it lost to Guymon, Okla., 63-48.

Lakin’s Pancho Klassen had a game-high 15 points, and Ryder Yakel added 11. Of those points, Yakel hit three 3-pointers, but it still was not enough to subdue Guymon. Alex Perez and Ian Shelden each scored seven points for the Broncs.

SW Heights 73,

Hooker, Okla. 58

Jorge Dela Torre led the Southwestern Heights Mustangs to defeat Hooker, Okla., 73-58, with his 26 points.

Nate Johnsrud added 12 points for the Mustangs with two 3-pointers, and Brandon Kisner sunk two 3-pointers and had a total of eight points.

Amy Scott’s team-high 13 points was not enough for the Hugoton Lady Eagles to overcome Gruver, Texas, as they were defeated, 66-34, in Saturday’s Red Blue Classic first-place game.

Melissa Fabela added nine points for the Lady Eagles and Anna Penna racked up five.

The Ulysses Lady Tigers had a close one to end the three-day tournament as they fell to Perryton, Texas, 54-51 on Saturday.

Ulysses’ Jessi Arnold had a team-high 15 points, scoring one 3-pointer. Lisset Najara managed to hit three 3-pointers and had a total of 11 points for the Lady Tigers. Carolina Gallegos added 10 points and had two 3-pointers.

SW Heights 37

The Lakin Lady Broncs had the upper hand on Saturday as they defeated Southwestern Heights, 46-37.

Robin Ritsema led the Lady Broncs with 12 points. Kyle Dale added nine points for Lakin, while Jordyn Cru had eight points and Mariah Watkins had seven points.

Southwestern Heights’ Ivon Amparan scored the majority of the team’s points with her game-high 25, hitting four 3-pointers in the process. Sydeny Weirich added six points for the Lady Mustangs.
