Debra K. “Debbie” Tate, 53, of Mooreland, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014.
She was born Feb. 19, 1961, in Garden City, to Violet “Vi” and Gerald “Bill” Thorne. She graduated from Hooker High School in 1979.
A teacher, Mrs. Tate began her career at Gate, Okla., teaching kindergarten and fifth/sixth math from 1983 to 1991. She then taught fourth grade at Mooreland from 1991 until retiring in 2013.
In 1986, she married James “Jim” Tate. He survives. Other survivors include her parents, Bill and Vi Thorne of Chanute; two daughters, Erin and Brooke of Mooreland; two sisters, Sherri Thorne and Mona Wautelet of Oklahoma City; and a brother, Mike Thorne of Leawood. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronnie William Tate; her great-grandfather, Gerald Thorne; and her grandparents, Glen and Bertha Wilson.
Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Woodward, Okla. Burial will be at Mooreland Cemetery.
