Back to the court for high school teams

Area high school basketball teams were getting back in the swing of games last week, with several having their first games after the holiday break on Friday. Holcomb boys 56 Ulysses 35 A stingy defense by Holcomb High school boys’ basketball team in the first three quarters helped the Longhorns pick up a road victory Friday at Ulysses.

GCHS bowling opens seasons with impressive finishes

Boys finish second, girls fifth at Bishop Carroll WICHITA - With a veteran cast of bowlers on the boys’ side, the Garden City High School team opened its 2022 season on Saturday with a runner-up finish at the prestigious Wichita-Bishop Carroll Baker Tournament. Meanwhile, the girls squad, without their top returning bowler in senior Holly Bridges (competing in Las Vegas for a Team USA position), placed fifth among the 30 competing teams and did so with three freshmen in the lineup.
