In several instances during the 2021-2022 basketball season, the Garden City Buffaloes’ boys’ team has found a way to bounce back from a tough loss with a solid performance. That is what firstyear Head Coach Jeff Williamson was looking for from his Buffs on Saturday at the Valley Center January Jam.
Sometimes, it is difficult to find the positives when a team’s competitors are not finishing in the top echelon of their respective events at a swimming meet. Saturday was such an occasion for Garden City High School boys’ swimming coach Dan Delgado.

HILLSBORO - Holcomb High School’s basketball teams competed in the annual Trojan Classic last week at Hillsboro. The boys’ finished in third place and the girls’ squad took fifth.
QUINTER - The Dighton girls basketball team finished the Northwest Kansas League midseason tournament with a 1-2 record, with a 53-42 victory over Greeley County Saturday at Quinter. Greeley County jumped out to the early lead 11-6 after one quarter, but the Hornets’ offensive came to life in the second, scoring 23 points to head to halftime with a 29-22 advantage.
STERLING - Four area high school basketball teams traveled to Sterling last week, competing in the 50th annual Sterling Invitational. Hugoton took top honors on the boys side, winning the championship and Scott City’s boys’ squad finished in fifth place.
