While the failure of the Soule or Eureka irrigation canal in Ford and Gray counties of southwest Kansas during the late 1800s may be more famous, the network of ditches built in the Garden City vicinity turned out to be a success, with some still used to support thriving agricultural operations in the 21st Century.
USD 457 will hold a free developmental screening clinic for children three to five years of age, who are Garden City residents. The clinic will be held on Friday, April 11, at the Garfield Early Childhood Center, 121 W. Walnut St.
