Victory Electric announces Lightner Community Spirit scholarships
Ten southwest Kansas students have been selected to receive $1,000 Lightner Community Spirit scholarships, including Rilee McGraw of Finney County and Samantha Wendel of Ingalls. The annual scholarship program recognizes students who have demonstrated not only academic success, but also a commitment to improving their community.
GCCC to hold commencement on May 5
Garden City Community College will hold two commencement ceremonies inside the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex on Friday, May 5. Students graduating with an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) or a Certificate will attend a 4 p.m.
SWKBA sponsors new carpentry scholarships at GCCC
Garden City Community College has received a scholarship donation from Southwest Kansas Builders Association. Through this, five $1,000 annual scholarships will be available for GCCC carpentry students this fall.
GCHS classes build, decorate ‘Little Library’
The Garden City High School manufacturing program celebrated Women’s History Month in March by having a full team of designers, drafters, and builders construct a “Little Library” in honor of Florence Wilson.
Plymell School to host heroes’ breakfast
Plymell Elementary School staff and students will host a Heroes’ Breakfast on Friday. The school’s staff has invited personnel from the Garden City Fire and Police departments, Finney County Sheriff’s Department, Finney County EMS, and Kansas Highway Patrol to the breakfast.
