Carbon Monoxide alert Friday at Garden City Recreation Center

The Garden City Recreation Center detected elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the facility on Friday, Dec. 20. Out of an abundance of caution, GCPR evacuated the building and closed for the remainder of the day.

GCPR ask patrons that visited the Recreation Center on Friday, Dec. 20, to monitor yourself and/or your loved ones for symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure, including:

• Headache

• Dizziness

• Nausea or vomiting

• Shortness of breath

• Confusion or disorientation

• Loss of consciousness

Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that can pose serious health risks. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of these symptoms, move to fresh air immediately and call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 for assistance.
