The Ulysses Tigers (8-1, 3-0) went on the road to take on Wellington (4-5, 1-2) in the regular season finale on Friday night. The game was never close, as the Tigers gashed Wellington, winning 36-6.

Ian Rudzik started the scoring for the Tigers, scoring from 42 yards out in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Rudzik rumbled his way into the end zone a second time, this time from 35 yards. Freddie Romero scored his only rushing touchdown via a 26-yard scamper.

At halftime, the Tigers led, 24-0. With no scoring in the third quarter, the game was all but wrapped up after Ulysses added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth. The first was another Rudzik touchdown run, his third of the game, and the next on the lone pass completed for Ulysses on the night, a 37-yard Zerr to Maravilla connection. Wellington scored its lone touchdown on a Volsted 27-yard rush for the final score.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Rudzik, as the senior running back and linebacker ran for 163 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 attempts.

With the win, the Tigers were crowned district champs, and host Abilene Friday in the first round of the 4A-I playoffs.
