Holcomb volleyball looks to take next step to state

With the start of a new fall sports season, the Holcomb High School volleyball squad is looking to build on last season and make a trip to the 3A state tournament.Head Coach Jennifer Barrett, starting her 14th year at the helm of the Longhorns, has the nucleus to improve on last season’s 25-11 team that finished as a sub-state runner up to Goodland.Halle Jones will be providing senior leadership on the court for the Longhorns this season.

JAG-K earns top national honor for 10th year

TOPEKA – For the tenth consecutive year, the Jobs for America’s Graduates national organization announced that the Kansas affiliate earned the organization’s highest award for achievement.Additionally, 36 Jobs for America’s Graduates-Kansas (JAG-K) school-based programs earned the prestigious 6 of 6 Award (an expansion of the 5 of 5 award previously presented by the national organization) for 2024.

KDOT accepting applications for Innovative Technology program

The Kansas Department of Transportation is now accepting applications for the fall 2024 round of the agency’s Innovative Technology program.The Innovative Technology Program provides financial assistance to governmental and non-governmental organizations for innovative transportation-related projects that promote safety, improve access or mobility and implement new transportation technology.“Innovative technology” is broadly defined as any technology that does not currently exist in the local community of the project.
