LIBERAL - It may not have been the best day on the golf course for the Garden City High School girls’ team, but it was still good enough for them to advance to next week’s Class 6A state tournament in Hutchinson.Just minutes before the first groups were tee off at mid-morning, the weather changed, temperatures were chilly and the wind switched to the northeast, wreaking havoc with almost all scores.On Tuesday, the Buffs shot their second highest score of the season, a 367, at Willow Tree Golf Course in Liberal, good enough for runner-up to Maize’s 334 and 10 shots ahead of the third-place Wichita Southeast Golden Buffaloes, which secured the third and final team qualifying spot.“We got off to a rough start when the wind picked up right from the start,” GCHS Head Coach Chris Duncan said.
